Buenaventura Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Ventura, California.
Buenaventura golf course first opened for play in 1932. The course was designed by William Park Bell. It was later redesigned by William Francis Bell. Most recently, the course was closed in May 2004 for rennovation. Forrest Richardson, a designer experienced in Bell designs, was brought in to redesign Buenaventura Golf Course. Playing at just over 6,000 yards to a par of 70, Buenaventura emphasizes course management and is a shot maker's delight. Aiming towards design features that were prevalent in the 1930s, the classic shapes and edges now transform the course as if one is stepping back in time.
With subtle undulations and contours, all the greens have been re-sculpted using classic Bell designs. Beautiful mature trees line Buenaventura's pristine fairways, while white sand bunkers guard the greens. Buenaventura Golf Course is located in the beautiful beachside community of Ventura, California.
Buenaventura is located 40 minutes north of Los Angeles, and 30 minutes south of Santa Barbara. Conveniently off the 101 freeway, the courses are within 3 miles of each other in the beautiful City of Ventura.

Mostly short holes. fairway are less than average. Trick-up greens is the only thing that makes this course more than an executive course.

Several ladies groups in front our group with no concern for players behind them caused play to slow down making a 4.5 hour round. No marshall to speed them up. Course in very good condition considering it was recently aerated.

Fun course, interesting, not long, but a challenge to score low, great food and beverage at grill. Very affordable. Pace of play good I never have to wait when I play at Buenaventura GC. Just 1.5 miles off Hwy 101 easy to get to.

I play here a lot. It's a comfortable course with lots of nice people playing. Can be a challenge with the prevailing winds, particularly in the afternoons.

Played with a friend. We both had to transact some business in Ventura. Both of us were rusty so it was about the right difficulty level.

A fun course for the price, layout has been updated since I last played years ago, for the better. Greens & fairways were in decent shape. It's a nice alternative to any muni Los Angeles course for just a little further drive.
